Meet the Team: Julie Mallett, Chartered Financial Planner

Julie joined Gibbs Denley Financial Services in 2010, after completing a Law degree. When considering her career options, she decided she would like to work in finance. Her search led her to an advert for a trainee Administrator role at our Bury St Edmunds office. Liking the sound of the job, she was also drawn by the potential for further study and progression within the company and the industry. Through Gibbs Denley Financial Services Professional Development Programme, she is now a Chartered Financial Planner.

Her role is heavily centred around paraplanning, meaning that she does a lot of research and report writing. Having gained authorised status she is also beginning to progress to a more client-facing role.

Julie’s main areas of interest are around pensions and investments, especially retirement planning and tax planning. The majority of the clients she works with have a variety of requirements to be met, and she enjoys building tailored financial plans that include investments, pensions, tax planning, inheritance tax planning and protection.

“I feel the main aim of financial planning is to ensure client outcomes are met in the most effective way,” she says. “This then allows people to live the way they wish to, with the knowledge of how to meet their future goals.”

Julie lives with her partner in Bury St Edmunds. Her hobbies include DIY (though she’s not sure if this is a hobby or a necessity given the house they moved into!), spending time with friends, Pound (a drumstick based exercise class), running and reading.
